Mrs. Obiano supports parents of multiple births with gifts

The wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr. (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano, at the weekend, presented gift items to parents who gave birth to multiple children (triplets and above) in 2018. The event which was termed Bounty programme was organised by the Ministry of Children and Women Affairs. The parents were 12 in number and were selected across the state. Some of the items include bags of rice, tubers of yam, beverages both for babies and adults. Other items were toiletries, baby diapers and other relief materials with an envelope. Presenting the items at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Mrs. Obiano charged the parents to raise their children in fear of God, to be good ambassadors of the state. Mrs. Obiano, also called Osodieme, noted that children were gifts from God and they should be carefully protected and guided with parental attention. “We want to honour and felicitate with you. Children are blessings from God and they must be respected. “Some parents are not careful with their children. They are too busy to give them proper attention, to learn their characters and make necessary corrections. “I urge you to offer them quality education to enable them contribute meaningfully to the society,” Mrs. Obiano asserted. She also prayed God to give the parents wisdom and understanding to lead the children in the right path. On his part, the Commissioner for Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, said the programme was an annual event that propounded by the wife of the Governor. Lady Mezue observed that the Governor’s wife, in the instance of the occasion, touched many lives yearly, through her financial support and other items. Mezue recalled that Mrs. Obiano since this administration had mapped out various measures to empower and support widows, youths and other women. She revealed that Mrs. Obiano had built houses for widows, scholarships for indigent and provided prosthetic limps to many people with disabilities. Reacting, one of the beneficiaries whose wife gave birth to triplets, Mr. John Ndu, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Obiano for her magnanimity which according to him was unprecedented in the history of Anambra State. Mr. Ndu pointed that the Governor’s wife had restored hope to the hopeless and had introduced a different style of governance, accessible to the downtrodden. The father of triplets observed that aside provision of prosthetic limps and other empowerment, Mrs. Obiano had restored life of destitute and reunited them with their families. He urged other beneficiaries to strengthen their support to the present administration to further consolidate on its achievements. “Osodieme is touching lives everyday. Her obsession is to promote healthy living for the people of the state. We are grateful Osodieme,” Ndu added.
