The Special Task Force Commander, Major General Augustine Chris Agundu, on Friday said the evacuation of a mining site alleged to have hidden the body of a missing Major General Idris Alkali (retired), has become a national assignment not only to unravel the alleged body of the deceased but to also uncover other heinous crime that must have been hidden under the pond.

Agundu stated this while on an inspection to access the level of evacuation which started on Thursday at Dura Du in Jos South local government area of Plateau State.

The Daily Times recalls that the Nigerian Army on September 3th declared the retired General missing.

However, according to Gen. Agundu, investigations reveal that the body of the deceased might have been drowned in the mining pond which has been over taken by water.

“Following a preliminary investigation, the vehicle of the missing officer was seen close to a pond in this general area and based on this credible intelligence, we had to come here”, Agundu said.
