Mirabel: Ogun Vows Justice Over Rape Allegation

The Ogun State Government has visited a Nigerian TikToker, identified as Mirabel (@mirab351), who is currently hospitalised after alleging that she was raped by a man in a video that went viral on social media.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Friday.

Adeleye said the state government had activated a coordinated, multi-sectoral response to the allegation of sexual assault, noting that Mirabel had been admitted to a state-owned health facility where she is receiving comprehensive medical care, investigation and psychosocial support.

According to the commissioner, the victim has been responding positively to treatment. She explained that the hospital visit was aimed at assessing her condition and ensuring appropriate medical and welfare interventions.

“This structured approach is intended to protect the survivor’s welfare while guaranteeing that investigations are conducted professionally, thoroughly, and strictly on the basis of verifiable evidence,” Adeleye stated.

“Detailed examinations and all required clinical procedures are being carried out in line with established standards for managing cases of alleged sexual assault, while security agencies are simultaneously conducting investigations.

“The welfare, dignity and safety of every survivor remain our utmost priority. The Dapo Abiodun-led administration maintains a zero-tolerance stance on sexual and gender-based violence.

“However, while we stand firmly with survivors, we are equally guided by due process. Investigations must be evidence-based, transparent and fair to all parties involved. Whoever is found wanting will face the full wrath of the law,” she added.

The commissioner commended the Ogun State Police Command for its prompt response following the transfer of the case from Lagos State authorities. She also lauded the medical team and the State Ministry of Justice for their swift intervention.

Adeleye urged the public to avoid speculation or sensational commentary that could undermine due process and ongoing investigations, assuring that updates would be provided as credible findings emerge.

Mirabel had alleged that she was attacked and raped by a stranger who reportedly forced entry into her apartment in the Ogijo area of Ogun State on Sunday, sparking widespread outrage and calls for justice on social media.
