Minister, unions at loggerheads over concession

Crisis is brewing in the nation’s aviation industry following the appointment of transaction advisers for concession of the airports, the proposed national carrier and aerotropolis by the government.
The minister of state, aviation Hadi Sirika had at the end of the last Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja, chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo announced the appointment of the transaction advisers which did not go down well with the aviation unions.
The unions argued that Sirika has rendered useless with the appointments the committee he set up for the purpose as it was not considered before the announcement of the advisers.
“It means the committee he set up was a kangaroo one, since he wants to do everything on his own. Why did he involve the unions after making up his mind on what to do” A union leader said.
They urged him to brace up for litigations especially with the projects under construction adding that the people have the right to protect their investments if they are not satisfied. “If they give you grant and the conditions attached to the grants and the project not completed and you want to concession, they will fight back”
It will be recalled that the minister after the successful completion of the runway vowed to face concession of airports.
