Mining boss Akogwu, bags Entrepreneurship highest honour

A Mining guru and philanthropist, Mr. Denzel Henry Akogwu has been conferred with a highest professional honour, known as the “Grade of FELLOW”, from the International Institute of Professional Corporate Entrepreneurship and Leadership (IIPCEL).

Akogwu who is the Chairman of Elipse International Limited, was specifically recognised for his outstanding achievements and contributions to entrepreneurship and leadership.

Speaking in Jos on Saturday, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of the Institute, Mr. Godwin E. Urhie said the “Fellow Grade” conferment is the apogee of the IIPCEL’s pride.

According to him: “This award is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional performance as entrepreneurs and leaders.

“We deemed it fit to honor Akogwu with this conferment as he has shown himself strong by reducing the unemployment rate in Plateau State.

“As a young man, he has demonstrated leadership in a challenging industry, such as mining”, he said.

“He is an exceptional achiever, a key contributor to Nigeria’s business landscape.

“Since founding Elipse International Limited in 2008, Akogwu has led the company to national prominence and global recognition in the mining sector”, a citation read.

The citation continued: “A recipient of numerous awards such as Job Security Personality Award (2024), Icon of Wealth Creation and Empowerment (2022), and the NIMG Excellence Award in Mineral Exploration (2021), among others.

“He is a family man, community leader, and philanthropist.

“Elipse Foundation has positively impacted countless lives, his conferment as FELLOW of IIPCEL marks another milestone in his distinguished career”, an introduction of him explained.

Responding, the Elipse boss said the recognition is a call to do more, promising not to relent in his efforts in ensuring the reduction of the unemployment rate in the country.

He said he will continue to work closely with state actors to grow Small Medium Enterprise (SMEs).

Akogwu called on the government to build more industries aimed at creating jobs and opportunities for the teaming youths.

The institute provides theoretical and practical training for aspiring entrepreneurs and business leaders, with professional grades ranging from affiliate to fellow, as well as corporate membership for organisations.
