Merrybet sues dammy Krane over breech of contract

Singer, Johnson Oyindamola, popularly called Dammy Krane on Monday has appeared before Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly posting a defamatory message on the internet about a sport betting company.
Police arraigned Dammy Krane, 27, after he was said to have threatened the lives of staff members of betting company, Merrybet Gold Limited, on July 29, 2019, and also released a song in which he accused the firm of breach of contract.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. J. I. Enang told the court that the defendant committed the offences with others still at large on July 29 in Lagos.
Enang said the defendant posted a video on the internet accusing the sport betting company of owing him.
He alleged that the defendant attended a game show sponsored by the company, but lost.
He was, however, said to have demanded some money for appearing on the show but the firm disagreed, insisting that the sum was only given to winners.
“The musician subsequently breached a contractual agreement with the firm by announcing via radio that the betting firm owed him money.
Oyindamola and others at large on July 29, 2019, at Cool FM in Lagos, conspired with others at large to commit felony to wit: Conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 168 (d), 301 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
However, the 27-year-old defendant pleaded not guilty to the three counts against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Adebayo Oniyelu, pleaded the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms.
Oniyelu, also assured the court that he would be available whenever he is needed.
“We humbly apply for the bail of the defendant. Section 35 (5) states that an accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Oniyelu added “He is a popular musician, if granted bail, he will not jump bail, meanwhile he has been in police custody since September 13,”
The Magistrate, Mrs Folashade Botoku, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Botoku adjourned the case until October 11 for mention.
Recall that On June 19, 2017, he was arrested in Miami, U.S for alleged credit card fraud.
However, he was released from jail in Miami after meeting the bail conditions of $7,500 ( 2,700,000.00 naira).
