Media War? Catholic Archbishop Publicly Lambasts Gov. Okorocha… You Won’t Believe His Reasons

While responding to a recent accusation by the governor of Imo State, the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Dr. Anthony J. V. Obinna, has vowed to continue to attack Governor Rochas Okorocha if he fails to do the right thing.

It was gathered that Gov. Okorocha had openly told the cleric that he had gone partisan instead of facing his religious duties, and in response, the cleric said Okorocha should learn how to govern the state with human face.

The cleric said, “Will it amount to partisan politics if I ask government to pay workers their earned salaries and allowances? How can I shut up when pensioners are senselessly dying as a result of non-payment of their pension and gratuity? If the governor wants me to stop criticizing and exposing his flaws, he should please do the right things,” Archbishop Obinna said.

Speaking on the plight of Imo pensioners, the cleric said; “It is most baffling that the governor wants to pay a paltry 40 percent of their earned pension and expect all of us to remain quiet in the face of this glaring injustice to humanity.

“Has the governor spotted me in any political meeting? I am entitled to cast a single vote in an election. Voting for a candidate of my choice cannot make me a party faithful,” Archbishop Obinna said.

He further challenged Okorocha to publish any political party document that bears his name, adding the governor was obviously angry that he (Obinna) rejected the governor’s appeal to embrace All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Governor Okorocha once led their APC faithful to Maria Assumpta Cathedral and appealed to me to join him in his new party. I told him that he was the one that jumped ship and I preferred remaining wherever I was,” Obinna said.
