Masari vows to return Katsina education to place of glory

….says state spent N10bn on sector under him
The Katsina State governor, Aminu Bello Masari has said that his administration has spent about N10 billion so far on education in the state.
The governor who stated this at the maiden matriculation ceremony of Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management on Thursday, 2017, added that his passion is to improve the standard of education in the state.
“That is why I have given an undivided attention to anything that would advance the boundaries of the education sector in the state. For years, Katsina is known to be the torch bearer of education in the Northern part of Nigeria.
“The evidence of this truism is the fact that most of the first, second and, even third generation leaders from the North had their secondary education in Katsina.
Several of them were at the famous Katsina Teachers College, now known as Barewa College in Zaria,” Masari said.
According to the governor, bringing back Katsina’s lost glory in education is not impossible adding that his administration has pulled out all the stops to ensure that nothing but 100 percent attention is given to the sector, especially at the foundation level.
“This is why we have to spent no less than N10 billion and counting, in the repair, rehabilitation and expansion of over 1,000 primary and secondary schools.
We did not include the amount expended on the payment of teachers salary as and when due, prompt payment of pension and gratuity of retired teachers, promotion of teachers and recruitment of more teachers to bridge the acute deficit in teaching staff faced in the state,” the governor added.
