The police in Benin, Edo State have launched a manhunt for some group of Aye confraternity cult who allegedly murdered Elder Famous Otaninuwa Ogbomo and sexually assaulted his daughter in laws, Precious Iwinosa Omoregbe in Upper No. 4 Aifuwa Street, off Upper Sakponba road.Benin City.
The cultists, sources close to the family said attacked the house ostensibly to punish one Mr Omoregbe Ogbomo, the deceased son and husband to Mrs Precious Iwinosa Omoregbe for revealing their member’s identity to the police which led to his arrest.
The invading Aye confraternity cult gang the source said, were on a vengeance mission to eliminate Omoregbe Ogbomo who had reported their mindless killing of a man on a lonely pathway to the police that resulted in the arrest of their gang leader.
They were said to have taken their anger out on Elder Famous Otaninuwa Ogbomo, shooting him in the process, after their futile search for his son Omoregbe Ogbomo who was their main target. They reportedly descended on Precious his daughter in-law, and raped her.
The invaders the Precious said came in large number clutching dangerous weapons demanding to see her husband Omoregbe Ogbomo who at that time had gone to work.
“They met my father-in-law Famous Otaninuwa Ogbomo outside, and I came out to see what was happening. My father-in-law told them my husband wasn’t home, but things escalated quickly.
“They turned and started manhandling me. My elderly father-in-law tried to defend me, but they shot him, and he died on the spot. They raped me. My two children were asleep inside. The assault happened around 7:00 -8:00pm on Thursday 25th of May 2023.
My husband got back from work to the sad event and rushed me to the hospital”, explained Mrs Omoregbe.
The cultists were said to have retreated but not without leaving a threat message to return to finish the family.
The Ogbomo family is now in disaray and unable to return to their home for fear of being killed by the felons.
