Man city’s fate on European ban to be known July

English Premier League side Manchester City will learn about their fate and European football early next month.

At the beginning of the current season, City was banned by UEFA from the Champions League for two seasons beginning in 2020/21.

Apart from the ban, the Pep Guardiola coached side were hit with a €30 million fine for failing to comply with Financial Fair Play restrictions but the Manchester club went to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

In a brief statement issued by CAS on Wednesday noted: “The decision is expected to be issued in the first half of July 2020. The exact date will be communicated in advance.”

City’s appeal hearing begun this week and ended on Wednesday with the conference taking place via video link due to the coronavirus pandemic. A three-person panel will now deliberate on the case and prepare their decision over the coming weeks.

If the team is banned from Europe, the fifth-placed team in the Premier League would make it to Champions League next season.
