Man arrested with 85 PVCs in Adamawa
A man, identified as Bobby Kotri, has been arrested by security operatives in Adamawa State for being in possession of 85 PVCs.
The suspect who claimed to be a farmer was arrested Tuesday night during a stop and search operation carried out by men of the Nigerian Army in Song Local Government Area of the state.
While parading the suspect at the headquarters, 23rd Armoured Brigade
of the Nigerian Army, Yola, Kotri claimed to be an errand boy for the Sole
Administrator of Garta/Futu local council development Area. He maintained that, Mr. Jimmy Zira, the sole Administrator of Garta/Futu Local Council Development Area gave him the cards for distribution to the people.
According to him, the owners of the cards were scattered in the mountainous areas of the development area after they were dislodged by the Boko Haram Insurgents.
However, when contacted, Adamawa State office of the impendent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) stated that no individual, no matter how highly placed, apart from INEC staff, has the authority to have PVCs in his custody.
Public Affairs Manager of INEC, Mrs. Rifkatu Duku said such possession of PVCs by an individual amounts to criminality.
