Man, 52, allegedly attempts gruesome murder on 61 year-old Princess

Ayokunle Olajide, a 52-year-old, was on Thursday brought before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly attempting to murder a sexagenarian woman.

The accused, whose address is unknown, is facing trial on a four-count charge bordering on grievous harm, attempted murder and assault.

He, however, entered a plea of innocence to the charges.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Babatope Julius told the court that the accused had committed the offences on Sept. 6 at 21.00 p.m. at New Garage in Ojota.

He said the accused, in an attempt to murder the complainant, Princess Adebimpe Faboro, 61, had used a broken bottle to stab her several times on her lips, forehead and hands.

The offences, he noted, contravened Sections 173, 230 (1), (2), 245 and 246 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The grievous harm is punishable with seven years imprisonment.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Salawu, admitted Olajide to a N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum, who must show proof of tax payment to the state government.

The case has been adjourned until Oct. 23 for mention.(NAN)
