Madrid Goalkeeper Courtois Joins the Ownership Group of French Club Le Mans.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has joined Brazilian investment fund OutField, which now owns second-tier French club Le Mans, the club announced on Thursday.

OutField, which now owns the majority of Le Mans, also includes tennis star Novak Djokovic and Brazilian racing driver Felipe Massa.

Courtois sent a message to the team’s fans via YouTube, explaining that his schedule at Real Madrid was keeping him busy but that he would return soon.

“Hello to everyone at the club, especially the fans. We are convinced we can help Le Mans reach new heights in the coming months,” the Belgian international said.

Le Mans are currently fifth in the French second tier, three points behind league leaders Troyes and one point behind the promotion places with eleven games remaining.

“The Brazilian group OutField has taken another step today by finalising the acquisition of the club,” Le Mans announced on its website.

Outfield became a shareholder in August and has steadily increased its stake.

Previous main shareholder Thierry Gomez stated that it was an exciting time for the club, where he will continue to serve as president.

“This is a significant new step for the club, which should allow Le Mans FC to firmly establish itself in professional football and continue to grow,” the Frenchman stated.
