Made in Nigeria goods excite investors at China’s SME Fair

Made in Nigeria goods, exhibited by Nigerian Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) with over 40 different Nigerian products stole the show at the just concluded China International SME Fair (CISMEF), attended by about 200 SMEs globally.
The Nigerian contingent, comprising of 26 MSMEs, were led to the fair by the Director General of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Dikko Umaru Radda.
In an interview with journalists on arrival from China, the SMEDAN DG commended the performance of the Nigeria exhibitors.
He said, “As you are aware, we are here to showcase ‘Made in Nigeria’ goods to the world through CISMEF.”
Radda added that through the expo, SMEDAN was able to match make some MSMEs with other investors and similar SMEs who were in China for the world exhibition. He said the results would surely come as match-making results are not immediate, “but at least, a business channel has been opened and this is good for Nigerian MSMEs.”
He equally made presentations on the state of MSMEs in Nigeria in two major events at the fair, The SMEs Cross Business Matchmaking Activity and the Guangdong Tour Belt and Road Campaign.
The Nigeria pavilion, he said, was a beehive of activities as and had an average of 300 visitor’s engage the Nigerian officials and exhibitors on a daily basis on business and investment opportunities in the country.
He said, some of the products exhibited by Nigerian MSME’s at the fair included textiles, agricultural products, general products and leather products.
SMEDAN also interfaced with several major international organizations, such as United Nations International Development Organization (UNIDO); commercial representatives of several countries that attended the fair as well as organizers of the China Small and Medium Enterprises Fair, CISMEF, where issues of mutual interest were discussed with a view to signing Memorandum of Understandings in future.
China Small and Medium Enterprises Fair, CISMEF, is a major international exhibition approved by the state council and serves the development of the SMEs. It has been held successfully for 13 consecutive years since 2004, and the 14th edition was held at the Poly World Trade Centre Expo from 10th – 14th October, 2017.
