LG poll: Ambode’s performance has compounded PDP’s woe, says Reps member

As various chapters of political parties in Lagos State put finishing touches to their strategies towards the July 22 local government election, a member of the House of the House of Representatives and stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Jide Jimoh has expressed sympathy with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on its imminent defeat.
Jimoh, who represents Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, in a chat with newsmen in Lagos at the weekend noted that there was no way the PDP can win in the election, premising his assertion on “the performance of Governor Akinwumi Ambode within his two years in office,” which he described as, “superlative, outstanding and out of this world.”
He noted that the PDP will have difficulty in persuading the people of Lagos to vote for their candidates with what Ambode had put on ground in terms of infrastructure, job creation, security apparatus and social welfare, adding, in addition to his numerous achievements, that the governor also carries all the stakeholders along in his government’s day to day activities.
“It is Ambode’s performance against the non-existent PDP in Lagos State. While the APC will have solid achievements of the party on ground as campaign materials, the PDP will have nothing to point at as reasons for the people to vote for its flag bearers,” Jimoh stated.
He enthused that, “the coming council poll will be a walkover in favour of our great party, APC, it will be a no march and it will be just a mere formality.”
The lawmaker therefore urged the people of the state to be prepared to exercise their franchise again by voting en-masse for the APC, reminding them that, “it is through that, that the efforts of Governor Ambode to bring more democracy dividends to the people’s door step will be a reality.”
“It is payback time for the good work he has been doing and which he still does,” Jimoh pointed out just as he wants Lagos residents to vote for all the APC candidates as a sign of appreciation for Governor Akinwumi Ambode’s satisfactory performance.
Jimoh, who was once a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly and later Chairman, Yaba LCDA said,
“With APC, people in charge of the grassroots, Ambode, who has already turned the state into a huge construction site will further go ‘performance wire’ to the benefit of all and sundry.”
