Lecturer, student shot dead in Port Harcourt

A former member of Rivers State House of Assembly Service Commission and currently a principal lecturer at the Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic (former Rivers State Polytechnic), Dr. Bori Vincent Eebee has been shot dead by unknown gunmen in Yeghe Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers state.

A report reaching our crime desk from the oil rich city has it that the incident happened about Thursday the 21st of April 2016.

Doctor Vincent until his murder was the Director of Industrial Training at the Polytechnic.  An eye witness who pleaded anonymity said the victim, who had a female student in the car with him ran out of his car when they the gunmen accosted and started shooting at them, but the killers chased after him to a primary school where they shot him repeatedly. The female student laer identified as Priye was shot inside the car.

The rector of the school, Mr. Soberekon Georewill confirmed the incident adding that the case has been reported to the police.

Police spokesman in the state, DSP Ahmed Kidaya said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.

Meanwhile, a Monarch in Ogoni land, Mene Suanu Baridam has condemned in strong terms the killing of the Kenpoly lecturer.

Baridam in a statement through his media aide, Confidence Ati Kiaka described the incidence as shocking and painful.

While calling on the police to ensure they unearth those behind the horrible act. Bandami who is the Gbenemene of Bariga kingdom, urged youths to shun cultism, kidnapping and other social vices.

He also called on religious, corporate organisations and individuals to partner with government in fighting insecurity in the state.

Yeghe and Bori towns as well as other parts of Ogoni land have been in the news for all the bad reasons in recent times.

It would be recalled that since the military and some cultists engaged in a shoot out, that geographical area of Ogoni land has not known peace.
