Zamfara Police rescue abducted victim, recover 2,500 litres of destructive Chemicals
The Zamfara state Police command under the leadership of Commissioner Ibrahim Maikaba has rescued a suspected bandits victim and also recovered 2,500 litres hazardous chemicals in a counter attack via credle intelligence.
This was disclosed in a statement issued to journalist in Gusau by DSP Yazid Abubakar anipr, Police Public Relations Officer, for Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command.
The statement revealed that, on the 29th January, 2026, armed bandits invaded the residence of Abdullahi Isah Nagari (M), located at the outskirts of Tsafe Town, Tsafe Local Government Area, and abducted him to an unknown destination.
Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Tsafe Division, promptly mobilized his personnel in collaboration with the Military (Operation Fansan Yamma) and launched a coordinated rescue operation.
During a thorough search of the surrounding bushes, the victim was successfully located and rescued, having been tied to a tree with a machete cut injury on his hand.
The victim was immediately rescued and taken to the General Hospital, Tsafe, where he is currently receiving medical attention.
Efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the perpetrators, while security patrols have been intensified in the area to prevent further occurrences.
In furtherance of the ongoing efforts to secure Zamfara State against the proliferation of items capable of endangering lives and property, the Zamfara State Police Command recorded yet another significant operational success.
On 28th January, 2026, at about 1640 hours, operatives attached to the Anti‑Illegal Mining Unit of the Command, while on routine patrol at Lalan area of Gusau Local Government Area, intercepted and recovered a total of 2,500 litres of suspected hazardous and poisonous chemicals believed to pose serious risks to public health and the environment.
The chemicals were recovered in one hundred (100) jericans, each containing twenty‑five (25) litres.
Meanwhile, investigation has commenced to determine the source, ownership, and intended use of the recovered chemicals, with a view to identifying and prosecuting those responsible in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, urges members of the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station, as the protection of lives and property remains a top priority of the Command.
