Policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Ikejahave arrested a five-man gang of suspected kidnappers in the Berger area of Lagos.
The gang, led by 32-year-old Edet Ekuno, also has Chukwudi Dickson, Sunday Shamiga, Hope Edet and Isaiah Unuabon as members. They were arrested while trying to kidnap a yet-to-be-identified victim in a hotel.
Under interrogation, the gang confessed to a series of robbery and kidnapping in Lagos and Akwa Ibom states.
Two locally-made pistols and eighteen live cartridges were recovered from the suspects. However, investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
In a similar development, policemen attached to the Gowon Estate division have arrested three hoodlums for robbery.
The suspects, Matthew Soeze, Johnson Olaide and Prosper Obi, were arrested following a tip-off.
It was alleged that the suspects barricaded the access road to Gowon Estate and subsequently robbed passers-by.
