Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has flagged off the operations of N16 billion Ekcel Farm, which would exclusively focus on the cultivation and processing of tomato and cassava.
At the opening ceremony on Thursday, at Omasi community, in Ayamelum Local Government Area of the state, Obiano expressed the commitment of his administration towards reformation of the agricultural sector, noting that the state had flung its doors wide open to accommodate agro-investors, who had discovered what the it had to offer to the investment community.
He explained that the Ekcel Farm, which would produce over 150,000 tons of tomato puree, would also attract over 13,500 direct jobs and over 100,000 indirect jobs for the people of Omasi and the state at large.
Obiano further explained that the company would allocate 5 percent of its annual profit to the host community, 10 percent to the state government and another 5 percent for provision of amenities in the community.
He advised the people to adopt harmonious relationship to the company, insisting that its coming was a blessing to the community and the state.
Sambo also explained achievement under the Jonathan administration in such sectors as transport, agriculture, and education, amongst others.
