Obiano inaugurates N16b farm

Governor Willie Obi­ano of Anambra State has flagged off the operations of N16 billion Ekcel Farm, which would exclusively focus on the cultivation and processing of tomato and cassava.

At the opening ceremony on Thursday, at Omasi com­munity, in Ayamelum Local Government Area of the state, Obiano expressed the commitment of his admin­istration towards reforma­tion of the agricultural sec­tor, noting that the state had flung its doors wide open to accommodate agro-inves­tors, who had discovered what the it had to offer to the investment community.

He explained that the Ekcel Farm, which would produce over 150,000 tons of tomato puree, would also at­tract over 13,500 direct jobs and over 100,000 indirect jobs for the people of Omasi and the state at large.

Obiano further explained that the company would al­locate 5 percent of its annu­al profit to the host commu­nity, 10 percent to the state government and another 5 percent for provision of amenities in the commu­nity.

He advised the people to adopt harmonious relation­ship to the company, insist­ing that its coming was a blessing to the community and the state.


Sambo also explained achievement under the Jonathan administration in such sectors as transport, agriculture, and education, amongst others.
