Lagos law maker tasks pupils on excellence

Lagos lawmaker, Hon. Segun Olulade has challenged school pupils at Ikosi-Ejinrin and Eredo LCDA in Epe division of the State to continue to strive to be the best in their academic works as this will guarantee them quality life and secured their future. Olulade who is currently representing Epe constituency 02 at the Lagos State House of Assembly tasked the school children while speaking at this year get-to-gether of the “Eleniyan Ambassadors” an annual programme specially designed to encourage the academic pursuit of the pupils in a relaxed and fun filled atmosphere hosted by the Eleniyan Foundation founded by the lawmaker.
324 school pupils who qualified from the 36 public schools within the locality after their successful performance at the preliminary stages across the primary schools within Ikosi-Ejinrin and Eredo LCDAs participated at the grand finale where overall winners emerged in various categories.
Highlight of the programme was the spelling bee competition among the pupils from Basic 4 to 6 where those that emerged winners went home with different prizes ranging from refrigerator, LCD Television, Camera, Blender and several other gift items.
At the end of the competition, nine year old Babatunde Azeezat emerged overall winner for Basic 6 thus becoming the overall Eleniyan Ambassador and went home with the top prize of a refrigerator and other supporting prizes while Halimat Raji and Akerele Ifeoluwa became the winner for Basic 5 and 4 and won for themselves LCD Television and camera respectively. While the other participants went home with consolation prizes of school bag and other gift items.
In addition to the prizes, the top six winners were awarded scholarships for their post primary school by both the Ikosi-Ejinrin and Eredo LCDAs as announced by the council bosses who were present at the event.
