Kogi: Sen Ogembe empowers constituents with N100m items

Senator Ahmed Salau Ogembe representing Central Senatorial District of Kogi state has empowered 400 people in his constituency with items worth over 100 million naira as part of his constituency project.

Presenting the items to beneficiaries on Saturday at Okene , the headquarters of central senatorial district, Senator Ogembe said within one year in office as a lawmaker, he was able to provide 25 motorised boreholes spread across the five local government areas that constitutes the district in addition to six brand new transformers provided to boost power supply in the district.

The lawmaker who expressed displeasure on the suffering of the people due to the current economic recession, disclosed that 200 women and youths in the area have been trained in small and medium scale empowerment with a seed capital of N30,000 each to enable them start small businesses .

Items distributed include 40 Tricycles, 60 Grinding machine, 40 Motorcycles, 150 Sewing machines and 45 Generators.

While appreciating the support given to him by the electorates in the districts, Ogembe assured that more empowerment programmes are on the way to enable him fulfilled his electioneering campaign promises.

Earlier, the state chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP) Engr. Sam Ohuotu commended the lawmaker for empowering the people that gave him the mandate.

He called on the people not to renege on their support for the party assuring that with commitment the party shall bounce back in 2019.

Also speaking, one of the chieftains of PDP Hon. Moses Ado Okino charged the recipients of the empowerment programme to utilise the items properly to enable them cater for the needs of their families.
