Kogi Police Arrest Man with 8 Explosive Detonators
The Kogi state Police Command says it arrested a suspect with eight stolen explosive detonators on the eve of the State Assembly election in the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations officer (PRO), Sola Collins Adebayo, a copy of which was made available to journalists, in Lokoja, on Wednesday. He said some other persons were arrested with locally made guns during the election.
According to the Adebayo, the arrest prevented a dangerous development, adding that those arrested would be taken to court at the end of investigation of their case.
He stated that though the election was not without hitches, the proactive measures put in place by the Commissioner of Police, Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, made for calm witness in the state before, during and after the election.
Adebayo said the Command was ready to perform its expected duties of ascertaining peaceful election in areas were elections were declared inconclusive by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), whenever a rerun was scheduled.
The police, however, commended other security agents and stakeholders in helping to ensure that the elections were peaceful in the state.
