Kogi NLC on Collision Course with Govt over Wages
The Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC) Kogi State council, has threatened a show-down with the state government, if it refuses to rescind its decision to cut down the April salaries of the state civil servants by 40 percent.
The Vice-Chairman of NLC and chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), in the state, Alhaji Suleman Abdullahi, stated this, on Tuesday, shortly after the State Working Committee meeting of the labour union in Lokoja.
According Abdullahi, the decision of the state government to pay 100 percent to officers on grade level 1-6, while those on 7 and above would be paid 60 percent was unacceptable to the labour union.
He disclosed that workers in the state where not invited to a round table meeting for discussion on how to go about the alleged short fall in the monthly allocation to the state before the decision was taken .
