Kano State U16 emerge Ramat Cup champions

Kano State have emerged as champions of the 32nd edition of the Murtala Ramat Mohammed tournament after defeating Kogi 2-0 in the final at the Kano Pillars Stadium.

Usman Auwal’s brace were all the hosts needed to win the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria [YSFON] organised U-16 football championship.

Kogi’s coach Adamu Isah, who was named the best coach of the tournament, applauded his lads’ performance despite crumbling to the hosts in the final.

I’m happy with my boys’ performance though a bit disappointed we didn’t win but that’s football,” Isah said.

“I must congratulate Kano for winning the championship and the organisers for staging a quality competition.”

In the third place match, Jigawa state won the bronze trophy after defeating Kaduna state 3-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the regulation time.

For individual awards, Kano state’s Auwal received the Most Valuable Player award and also the top scorer prize for scoring 11 goals in five matches.

Delighted president of YSFON, Dauda Yusuf congratulated the winners Kano commended the support of the Kano state government and good conducts of the participating teams during the competition.
