The Kano State Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Prof. Riskuwa Shehu Arabu has revealed that, the Commission is now fully ready to conduct the forthcoming general election after receiving all the non-sensitive and sensitive materials required for the conduct of the rescheduled election. Arabu made the disclosure on Tuesday at the Commission’s headquarters in Kano while briefing news men on progress made so far by his office. According to him, the non-sensitive materials have since been distributed to the INEC Local Government Offices of the state while the sensitive materials are sorted and batched according to the LGA and retrieved by Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN) for safe keeping. According to Arabu, the Commission has received complaints from persons who claimed to have attended INEC training and certified as Adhoc staff but only to learn that, their names have been substituted with those of other persons. He said the Commission has summoned an emergency meeting with all the Electoral Officers (EOs), to address the issue and assured that, only those who received authentic messages from the commission as confirmed Adhoc staff would be entertained and, no one whose name is on the master list would be replaced. Riskuwa assured that only genuine Adhoc staff of the commission would be entertained. He further disclosed that 41,552 adhoc staff were trained and posted to the various local government areas of the state.
