Kano Fire Service Caution against use of Fire in Markets, Home

The Acting Director Kano State Fire Service Sagir Madaki has called on the people of the state to adopt safety methods of using fire this Harmattan period.

He said that the call became necessary considering the nature of incidences recorded in this season.

He warned that the fire service frowns against activities of food sellers who set up fire in the Market place which has led to uncountable number of Fire incidence in recent times where goods and valuables worth billions of naira were destroyed.

“the act of setting up fire for cooking in the market is prohibited. We advise that they prepare their food at home before going to the markets”

Madaki also called on the general public to be mindful of using charcoal this period to warm their rooms so as to prevent fire out break. Anyone using such should ensure he or she puts out the fire completely before retiring to bed and children must not be allowed to play around the apartment with anything that could ignite or spark off fire.

He however noted that, the state fire service department had 23 fire appliances out of which only two were functional and has been one of the greatest challenge bedevilling them but the Ganduje administration has released a huge sum of money which was used to repair and rehabilitate 21 appliances of the service and all units within the state are fully functional.

He call on the general public to always alert the service in case of any emergency as the service is always ready to save lives and properties.
