The Supreme Court has further upheld the elections of governor Samuel Orton of Benue state and Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state

Apex Court dismissed two appeals challenging the elections of governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State and governor Sam Orton of Benue State.

The court said the appellants were unable to establish cases of over voting in the election held on March 9, 2019.

Justice Bode Rhodes Vivour the presided over the seven man panel of justices of the Supreme Court that heard the appeals

Emmanuel Jime the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State had brought the appeal against Governor Orton . He claimed that there was over voting, malpractices and irregularities in 600 polling units .

On his part, Jibrilla Bindo the APC governorship candidate has asked the apex court to allow his appeal and declare him winner because Fintiri was returned through over voting .

He said that Fintiri was awarded excesses and unlawful votes by INEC.

According to him, if the unlawful and excess votes illegally credited to Fintiri is remove from the genuine votes casted he will have 275,491 votes while him (Bindo) will have 292, 710 votes.
The over voting , he stated took place in 385 out of the 2, 609 polling units across the state

The Supreme Court will by 2 pm today delivery its judgment on two appeals challenging the elections of governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State and governor Sam Orton of Benue State.
