Judiciary charged on effective justice delivery

Judicial Administrators in the country have been charged to put effective machinery in place to ensure efficient justice delivery to citizens.

The charge was given by the Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Right Reverend Alexander Ibezim at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka during a service to mark the commencement of the 2017/2018 Legal year in Anambra state.

Right Reverend Ibezim particularly urged lawyers and judges to treat all citizens equally and ensure that poor people were not denied justice in the society.

He advised judicial workers who were bent on disorganizing effective dispensation of justice to have a rethink as they would also be judged by God.

The bishop while acknowledging that there national issues begging for attention, stressed the need for a discourse to address such challenges.

Right Reverend Ibezim further advocated that the female folk should be given the opportunity to showcase their leadership potentials, alleging that men had failed the nation in political administration.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state pledged to help in addressing some the challenges confronting the judiciary in the area.

Governor Obiano disclosed that his administration would provide electronic facilities for the judiciary to quicken justice delivery.

Earlier, the Chief Judge of Anambra state, Justice Peter Umeadi applauded the state government for putting measures in place to enhance
the independence of the judiciary in the area.

Justice Umeadi explained that the gesture had made the judiciary in the state self sustaining.
