Jubilation as Dayo Alebiosu–Bush picks APC Kosofe Reps form

There was wild jubilation in the Kosofe Federal Constituency when news spread across the Kosofe constituents that Dayo Alebiosu – Bush popularly known as D-Bush had picked up the form to represent the Kosofe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives come 2019.

Dayo Bush represented the people of Kosofe through their lawful mandate until it was stolen via unscrupulous circumstances in the 2015 APC primaries, as recounted by one of the hundreds of party members who thronged the lawmaker’s residence as soon as they heard the news.

According to one of the delegates who participated, the primaries had been marred by violence and votes were cast 3 times. Votes of Delegates were counted twice in the constituency while at the 3rd time, it was taken out of the constituency, which is against the APC rules, according to the delegate. As such could only happen when there was war or a natural disaster, which never happened.

Another provision of the party rules is that there must be 5 days notice to delegates but they were given only 24 hours’ notice. However, when delegates were directed to go home and return the next day, results were suspiciously declared in favour of the incumbent representative, Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye.

Another supporter of the lawmaker stated that while representing Kosofe, D – Bush was known for his statesmanlike disposition and excellent understanding of national issues. He served on several committees such as the House Committees on National Security, Petroleum (Upstream) and was a former sub-committee Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other committees. He was also appointed the Chairman, House Committee on Treaties and Agreements.

Hon. Dayo Bush sponsored over 15 successful Bills in the House of Representatives, such as the Bill for an Act for Amendment of the Tobacco Control Bill to provide for the regulation or control of production, manufacture, sale, advertisement, promotion, licensing and distribution of tobacco or tobacco products in Nigeria and other related matters, 2013, which has regulated the Tobacco industry since it was signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

Also, Hon. Dayo Bush moved a motion before the House to ensure that victims of the Dana crash were duly compensated by the airline. It was most devastating to the Hon. D-Bush when he learned that a member of his constituency was also a victim of the crash.

During the four year period while D-Bush has been away from Legislating, he returned to school to study leadership and decision making at Harvard; a dynamic leadership course at University College London, a course in Leadership and Management at Northumbria University, Newcastle; an MSc in Leadership and Management also at Northumbria University. However, despite his yearning for more knowledge, D-Bush made it a point of duty to meet regularly with his constituents.

When Hon. Bush is back in the Federal House of Representatives, he would be one of the members to look out for as he brings forward legislative experience and excellent leadership qualities.
