Jalingo NBA honours former CJN Mahmud Mohammed, others

The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Jalingo in Taraba state on Wednesday, hosted lawyers within and outside the state to a dinner to mark the end of year 2016.
At the occasion, held at the Justice Adamu Aliyu Secretariat, Jalingo, the legal practitioners honoured the immediate past Chief Judge (CJ) of the Federation, Retired Justice Mahmud Mohammad, who was represented by Justice Yusuf Bashir with a prestigious Award.
Others honoured were; the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Josephine Tuktur who was represented by Justice Nuhu Ali, former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Bar. Gibon Timothy Kataps, Bar. Effiong Ibrahim Asukuo, Bar. Jonathan Istifanus, Bar. Hosea Ibi, Bar. Idris Abdullahi Jalo, Bar. Caroline Ifeoma Abachukwu, Taraba State Ministry of Justice and Taraba Lawyers’ Media.
In his remarks, the NBA, Jalingo branch Chairman, Joel Daniel Ubandoma said, “The Executive Committee members of this branch have seen the need to present Award to my Lord, the retired CJ and other deserving Awardees”, stressing that such are owing to their outstanding and exemplary leadership role to the development of the branch.
NBA Jalingo boss further stressed the need for members to come together as a noble entity to reflect on daunting challenges facing the profession with a view to proffering solution for a better service delivery to their clients and the state come year 2017, hence the Dinner and Award Night.
According to him, “This End of the year Dinner will in no doubt afford us the opportunity to interact and to interface with my Lords and other members of the Bar with a view to encouraging Career Development and Mentorship”
Barrister Ubondoma however, reassured the commitment of members to a cordial relationship between the Bar and the Bench saying all are championing the same course.
While commending the efforts of the Dinner/Award Night Committee for a job well done, he revealed that there are many more deserving members from the branch who have contributed immensely to the growth of the branch, promising to recognize their untiring support during the association’s Bar Week coming up next year.
In a goodwill message, Justice Yusuf Bashir lauded the efforts of the leadership of the branch and urged them not to relent in their efforts of being committed to the legal assignments, saying such will afford the branch an opportunity for unity and growth.
