Ize-Iyamu blasts Obaseki for condoling insecurity in Edo

Former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Edo, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has blasted the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki over his silence amid insecurity ravaging the state.

Ize-Iyamu said Obaseki’s silence over the rate of insecurity in the state was no longer golden.

In a statement by his Media Aide, John Mayaki, the former governorship candidate charged Obaseki to live up to his responsibilities.

He lamented that the spate of incessant kidnapping, robbery and cult-related activities in the state was frightening.

The statement reads: “Last year, Obaseki was reported to have committed N2 billion to Edo Security Trust Fund, besides the traditional N700 million monthly security vote, which still subsists.

“Why not speak up concerning the incessant kidnappings? What about the cult-related killings and violent robberies, and invasion of markets?

“Why should Obaseki ignore the people who voted him? This omission is tantamount to a direct slap on the people who voted him and who are touched, one way or another, by the mindless kidnappings and killings.

“Obaseki’s silence is no longer golden, especially when his house is in flames, but he is showing photographs of himself consoling a colleague on the loss of his mother.”

Recall that commuters on the Benin-Auchi road had cried out over increasing kidnapping activities along the route.

This followed the kidnapping of some travelers on the route by some suspected gunmen.

Daily Times gathered that some unknown gunmen had abducted the Councillor representing ward one (Ewohimi), Hon. Israel Inyanabor in Esan South East Local Government Area of the state, last week.
