IPMAN demands products importation allocation from PPPRA

Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), on Tuesday, called on the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency to resume importation allocation to its member.
The IPMAN President, Lawson Obasi gave the charge while speaking to journalists in Abuja, stressing that such move would avert perennial scarcity of petroleum products in the country.
He wondered that in the past, the PPPRA used to allocate some petroleum import quota to its members but suddenly stopped resulting in recurring scarcity.
“The PPPRA should include IPMAN in the list of those importing products. Before now, they used to give us allocation but they stopped “he said.
Obasi said the group is not against removal of subsidy but stressed that government need to make the removal gradual and in phases.
He said that government should ensure that refineries are working and pipelines put in order to ensure free flow of distribution of the products.
