INEC Bars NURTW from Conveying Electoral Materials

The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, has directed that the National Union of Road Transport Workers, (NURTW), must not be involved in conveying electoral materials.
Spokesman for the electoral body, Mr. Kayode ldowu, disclosed this in Ibadan, Oyo State, while speaking with the press, on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Amb. Rufus Akeju.
Some political parties in the state, recently, registered their rejection of the proposed use of NURTW to transport the materials to polling units from INEC office on days of election.
Their fear was that the union could not be trusted as it might be compromised by any political party to do its bidding, since, as they alleged, it had always been a willing tool to any incumbent administration.
