I’m a loyal party-man, Dogara replies Abe

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has debunked the claim by Senator Magnus Abe that he is working to provide a clear political advantage for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming National Assembly rerun elections in Rivers state.
Dogara in his response to Abe’s diatribe described the statement as unfair, stating that he remains a loyal party man that will never work against the interest of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Speaker who made the clarification in a press release signed by his special adviser on Media & Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan, said: “while the honourable Speaker does not wish to join issues with the distinguished senator, it is important to set the records straight.
“The Speaker’s only role in the allegation made by the distinguished senator is that of a presiding officer who brings down the gavel in affirmation of a decision taken by majority members of the House of Representatives.
“Dogara neither introduced the motion to conduct a public hearing on Rivers state election; neither did he support any party during the debate.
The Speaker wishes to make it clear that he is always fair when presiding over issues raised by members of various parties in the House of Representatives, and this does not equate to discriminating against his own party, the APC.”
