I’ll tackle COVID-19 in Nasarawa, says Sule

The Nasarawa State Governor, Egnr. Abdullahi Sule, has assured residents of the state of his readiness to tackle the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state.
He gave the assurance in a press conference held at the Government House Lafia, the state capital, on Wednesday.
Governor Sule said that the necessary materials to contain the spread of COVID-19 are already on ground.
He said: “So far, 4 monitor machines for Intensive Care Unit (ICU), mainly to monitor the heart rate and respiratory rate are handy. We have isolation centres at Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH), which is the most completed of all with 10 separate rooms where we are keeping those cases.
“Already, we have 100 isolation beds where we are keeping some of the contacts like the first 11 persons that mingled with the index case in the state and another one at Shabu, currently has 96 beds set as well as the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi that is keeping 4 COVID-19 patients.”
The Governor further intimated his people on the availability of the materials the state Government was waiting since the beginning of the disease.
“We have received the imported 50, 000, face masks. We have received the Personal Protective Equipments (PPE), the modern clothes for protection. We also received the 300 face masks ordered through the Youth corps.
“We have also established three contact tracing centres, one for each senatorial zone. Men and women have been adequately trained for contact tracing activities in the areas,” he added.
He said that the committee has already employed the services of trained personnels to work with the state Ministry of Health and also lead the contact tracing unit in each of the zones, while local governments have their committee of contact tracing.
