ICT can reposition Nigerian economy – LCCI President

The President, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, (LCCI), Mrs. Nike Akande, has said the nation’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector can revive the Nigerian economy with the needed infrastructure and policies in place.
Mrs. Akande made this submission at a pre-event meeting of the 2017 Information Communication Technology Expo (2017 ICTEL Expo), billed for July 25-27 with the theme “The digital economy-strategies for growth in a connected world.”
She said “Technology-backed service delivery and mobile payment solutions have transformed the way we do business today. The ICTEL Expo is a veritable platform to explore new technology possibilities and trends.
“The ICT sector can contribute more to our national development if the needed infrastructure and policies are in place. We urge the government and private sector to consider the model of Public-Private-Partnership to mobilize needed investments for necessary and critical infrastructure with the government providing a conducive policy environment where ICT business can thrive.”
The Chairman, Trade Promotion Board of the LCCI, Mr. Sola Oyetayo, said that the Expo will offer information, inspiration, innovation, optimal brand exposure and platform for diverse business and investment opportunities.
Oyetayo said that there will also be conferences to address the current trends in the ICT sector and an overview of government policies and how business has been impacted by these policies.
“Best practices in ICT regulations would also form a critical part of the discourse at the various scheduled side-events during the EXPO,” he added.
