IAAF Diamond League: Okagbare Settles For 4th In Rabat

Blessing Okagbare was unable to replicate the fast time she posted in London few weeks ago at the Rabat Meet
There was no podium finish for Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare at the IAAF Diamond League meeting over the weekend.
Okagbare with her time of 11.03 seconds could only manage a fourth-place finish.
The race was won by Jamaica’s reigning Olympics champion, Elaine Thompson who set a new 10.87 seconds record.
Ivorian girl, Marie-Jose Ta Lou was second in 10.90 seconds while Trinidad and Tobago’s Ahye Michelle-Lee finished third in 11.02 seconds.
Okagbare who holds the Nigerian record in the event (10.79 seconds) failed to build on her impressive 10.99 seconds record in London.
However, she moved up to fourth in the qualification standings for the Diamond League final with 17 points after conclusion of five of six 100m qualification meetings.
The sixth qualification race will be held in 33 days’ time in Birmingham, England.
Okagbare is now billed to dash back to Nigeria as she is also the headline athlete for Tuesday’s Warri Relays &CAA Grand Prix.
