I was never arrested - Sen Omo-Agege

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (APC, Delta Central) has said that he was not arrested by the police. The police had on Wednesday led him away from the National Assembly after some suspected thugs invaded the Senate and seized the mace of the Red Chamber.

The development led to the disruption of plenary for some minutes until a “spare mace” was brought to enable the senators reconvene sitting.

Incidentally, Omo-Agege later joined his colleagues at plenary while the proceedings lasted and was only accosted by the police after he came out with his colleagues.

But in a tweet, Omo-Agege said he “merely” left with the police who wanted to hear his perspective on the matter.

The suspended lawmaker said after he was heard, he “immediately” left the police.

The senator tweeted thus- “FOR THE RECORD; I was never arrested!!! I merely left with the police who wanted to hear my perspective on the matter. Told them my perspective and left”.

Omo-Agege later posted a picture of himself smiling.
