The prevalence of HIV/AIDS across Katsina State dropped to 0.7 per cent from 2.3 per cent last week, the Executive Secretary of the State Agency for the Control of AIDS (SACA), Dr. Muntari Hassan Kankia, has said.

Kankia, who, made this known during the distribution of food items to 29 HIV/AIDS patient associations in the state, noted that the gesture was part of the thematic areas of the agency to offer care and support to HIV patients in need of nutritious food due to the nature of their drugs.

He said the state boasts of no fewer than 109 HIV status testing centres with 80 centres for women who contract the disease and 19 centres where drugs for HIV/AIDS patients are being provided.
