Gunmen murder couple in Imo, daughter demands justice

Mrs Nomey Ihejieto, daughter of a couple, identified as Edwin and his wife, Chiaka, who were recently murdered in Okuku community of Owerri-West Local Government Area, Imo state, has demanded for justice over the killing of her parents.

It could be recalled that the couple were abducted by gunmen who stormed their home on 20th January, 2024.

However, despite paying a ransom, the couple were still murdered by the gunmen, fueling speculations that they were victims of assassination.

Speaking to journalists, the distressed lady linked the murder of her parents to a land struggle within the family.

While demanding that the police step into the matter with the urgency it deserves and bring the culprits to book, she lamented that the lives of her brothers, was equally at risk.

Meanwhile, a top police officer, who spoke to our correspondent, confirmed the murder of the couple.

While describing it as gruesome, he said investigation was ongoing to unravel those behind it.
