The brother to the Governor of Sokoto State and district head of Wamakko, Alhaji Salihu Barade, has been kidnapped.
Barade, 60, was abducted, was abducted along with a former Education Secretary in Wamakko, Alhaji Ango Garba by three gunmen and a driver on Wednesday at about 7pm from his livestock farm in Majiya, on the outskirts of the town.

The development caused confusion in the state, with diverse opinions on what could be the motive, more so, as the state was getting set for Saturday’s governorship and house of assembly elections.
State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Al-Mustapha Sani, while giving an update on the incident, told journalists that the Police Command was collaborating with the commands in Zamfara and Kebbi State, to arrest the perpetrators and rescue Governor Wammako’s brother.

Sani added that, “the police had swung into action and we are appealing to the public to assist us with useful information that will lead to his whereabouts.”
However, the second victim, Garba, was said to have been freed by the abductors at Wallijan forest, near Gwandu in Kebbi State, and had, since, been reunited with his family.
