Gombe College of Education matriculates 2, 471 students

The Provost, Federal College of Education (Tech), Gombe, Dr. Adamu Gimba Abbas has warned the students that the College would not condone any form of anti-social behaviour and they would not hesitate to explore all the means at their disposal to effectively control any recalcitrant student.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony of 2, 471 students admitted into the 2016/2017 academic session by the College, the Provost said that they must all put their hands together to ensure that peace is sustained in the College and students are therefore enjoined to channel their grievances through the appropriate quarters.
Represented by his Deputy Provost, Mr. Biwe Ephraim, the Provost noted that the College Management will give serious attention to their demand and also recreational facilities have been provided for the students to relax after rigours of the academic activities in the day and maximum support shall be given to potential sporting students so as to enable them realize their potentials.
Also Speaking, the Dean, Students Affairs Unit, Alhaji Ibrahim Tafida explained that the College is a pacesetter in the areas of peace and academic excellence and to keep the flag flying, they are hereby enjoined to remain peaceful, focus and study hard to achieve the objectives of their coming to the College.
“This Institution is having its own set of rules and regulations as clearly specified in the Students hand book that will be distributed to all newly admitted students and you are advised also to make good use of these hand books”, he said.
Alhaji IbrahimTafida noted that the College does not tolerate violence, cultism, fighting, religious intolerance, examination malpractice, drug abuse and other social vices and worthy of note is that they are coming into the College at the time when the College Management is repositioning the Institution for higher academic achievements through the provision of relevant facilities such as additional hostels, wide range of classrooms including modern lecture halls, theatres and sporting facilities all tailored to suite their interests in order to make both teaching and learning conducive to all.
The Dean added further that the water supply system and electricity has been improved and with these recent developments, the College Community will now continue to enjoy steady power and water supply and students therefore have no cause whatsoever to conduct unnecessary riots, protests or carry over courses , he informed that all these facilities at their disposal are made possible by the College Provost, Dr A.G. Abbas and his able management team, “to whom much is given, much is expected”, they are therefore expected to reciprocate this good gesture by giving the Management their maximum cooperation to strictly adhere to the stipulated College rules and regulations in order to positively move the Institution forward.
