Glo-sponsored one Lagos Fiesta close today

The 2016 edition of One Lagos Fiesta will come to a close Saturday night with a spectacular countdown to the New Year.

The initiative introduced by the government of Akinwumi Ambode last year to round off the year and usher in a new one in a mood of excitement is being supported for a second year running by foremost telecommunications company, Globacom.

Besides, sponsoring the event, Globacom maintained activity-packed stands in all the five centres the event was held across the state.

The company treated guests to evenings of sublime entertainment which featured music, comedy, dance, games and competitions at the Agege centre on all the centres while the event lasted.

At the Ikorodu centre on December 26, Nollywood actor and Glo ambassador, Odunlade Adekola, who was at the Glo stand attracted fun-seekers who abandoned other stands just to see and touch the celebrity.

Odunlade, while speaking at the Glo stand praised Globacom for making telephony easily accessible to the masses and urged them to continue to patronize the company as it is a wholly Nigerian brand.

He recalled that it was Globacom that liberalized the telecom market with the introduction of per second billing, a feat that other operators said was not possible at the time.

The thespian said Glo is a truly people-oriented network because of its commitment to entertainment by the magnitude of support it is giving to the One Lagos Fiesta, and that he was proud to identify with the brand.

Glo also provided sublime entertainment in other venues where the event held such as Epe, Badagry and Victoria Island. For instance, all the stands had facilities for different kinds of games such as snookers, table soccer, ludo, traditional Ayo game, cards, among others.

Odunlade, entertained his fans and urged them “to show appreciation to Globacom by patronising the company’s products and services so that they can be encouraged to do more for us”.

Other entertainers who kept the audience busy at the Glo stand were comedians, Marcathy and Koloman at the Agege centre of the OLF, while DJ Galaxy provided sound beats for the crowd.

The various competitions were keenly contested by young men and ladies who had stormed the Agege stadium venue to have fun.

Jolayemi Kehinde, a student of Yewa Junior High School, Agege, won the catwalk competition, while Abba Mohammed a student of Vetland Junior College, Ifako Ijaiye won the recitation of the National Anthem at the Agree centre.

Mercy George, a pupil of CAC Nursery and Primary School, Agege,  and Sanusi Abiodun , a pupil of Sound Planet College, Agege, won in two different dancing competitions.

The fiesta ends tonight with a crossover event at the 5 centres. The major hub of activities, hosting the governor and other top officials, remains the Bar Beach centre.
