FRSC deploys over 500 officials for Obiano’s inauguration

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has said that it will deploy over 500 officials to maintain presence at every entry point into Awka, the Anambra State capital, during Governor Willie Obiano’s swearing-in cum inauguration ceremony today.
Disclosing the commission’s readiness for the exercise, Anambra State Sector commander of the FRSC, Mr.Sunday Michael Ajayi, stated that it was necessary to increase presence for the exercise to enable the Corps achieve effective traffic management for the inauguration ceremony.
Ajayi said that the commission has taken cognisance of the magnitude of the traffic inflow into Anambra State due to the swearing-in ceremony but assured that they have deployed men and materials for the event to ensure sanity on the roads.
According to him, the inaugural ceremony was an important event of the Anambra State government after the governor’s victory at the polls as well as termination of his first term in office, pointing out that the Corps has drawn its plans to ensure that there was no traffic stress even though he noted also that the commission required the cooperation of the motoring public for it to function optimally.
He further disclosed that it was a standing order from the national headquarters of the commission that the state command must ensure traffic sanity especially as it concerns the governor’s inauguration ceremony.
The sector commander, who noted that the commission anticipates strict obedience to traffic signs as well as removal of obstructions from the roads, reiterated the commitment of the Corps to reducing road mishaps on the highways while urging the motoring public to observe safety on the highways especially as the rainy season approaches.
