From Borno to limelight: Tinubu’s Spokesman Bwala Receives Excellence Award
President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Policy Communications, Daniel Bwala, was honoured on Thursday night in Abuja, emerging as one of the celebrated recipients of the Borno South Stakeholders Excellence Award for his sterling contributions to unity, progress, and development in Borno State.
Bwala was among 17 distinguished awardees, including Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (Rtd), who were lauded for excellence in public and community service. The well-attended event saw high-profile dignitaries and key government officials grace the ceremony.
President Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Abubakar Kyari, expressed delight over Bwala’s recognition, describing him as a dedicated member of his administration.
“I am glad to note that one of the recipients of this award tonight is Daniel Hasan Bwala, my Special Adviser on Media and Policy Communications. He is like a son to me. His commitment to my administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is not in doubt,” Tinubu stated.

Inna Maryam Ciroma, former Minister of Women Affairs
Chief Anjikwi Ciwar, former Registrar, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria
Muktar Aliyu Betara, House of Representatives member representing Bayo, Biu, Kwaya Kusar, and Shani Federal Constituency
President Tinubu emphasized that the awardees’ remarkable service has raised a new standard for leadership and service in Borno South and across the nation.
“Each award presented tonight is more than just a symbol of success. It is a testament to the commitment, long hours, and unwavering determination that pushed the recipients forward,” he added.
The event convener, Mallam Ishaya Malgwi, highlighted that Bwala’s recognition was a celebration of excellence, diligence, and the values he represents.
“By conferring this honour on Barrister Bwala, Borno South is celebrating not only his achievements but also the values of hard work, dedication, and excellence that he embodies,” Malgwi said.
In attendance were representatives of top political figures, including the Governor of Taraba State, represented by Secretary to the State Government, Timothy Kataps, and a representative of Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (Rtd).
Reacting to the honour, an elated Bwala expressed gratitude and described the recognition from his local community as humbling.
“This award is a testament that the people of Southern Borno believe in President Tinubu’s vision. I am confident they are standing firm with the Renewed Hope Agenda and the mission to transform Nigeria,” he said.
Bwala, who was appointed as Tinubu’s spokesman in November 2024, is a renowned legal practitioner and public affairs analyst, known for his bold commentaries and policy advocacy.
