Be forthright in handling corruption related cases, Gov Masari urges NBA

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state has urged members of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) to intensify efforts in the current war against corruption by being forthright in the handling of corruption related cases.

Masari made the call on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by the Katsina and Funtua NBA branches led by Barrister Abubakar Mohammed at the Government house council chamber in katsina.

According to him, being the custodian of law and order, as magistrates and judges, there should be a baseline for operations.

“Lawyers should be above partisan divide to guarantee a peaceful society and allow for professional operation”, he posited.

He said the NBA should be at the forefront in defence of the right to benefit the larger society, especially at this critical time in the development of the country.

On the Association’s resolve to partner with the state to develop primary and secondary education, the Governor revealed that N1.9billion would be expended for the improvement of secondary education in the state.

Masari who also disclosed that another three billion naira would be spent on primary education, however assured of continued heavy investment in the sector to secure the future of its teeming youths.

On their requests, Governor Aminu Bello Masari promised to donate a land, a bus and other assistance to the association to enable the two branches to become vibrant.

Earlier, the chairman of NBA, Barrister Abubakar Mohammed applauded the present administration efforts at improving the education, health and other sectors, assuring of their readiness to partner with the state government to develop primary and secondary education in the state.

Barrister Mohammed however solicited the state government assistance for a land, bus and monthly financial subvention to enable them function efficiently.
