Former LG chairman murdered in Bauchi, as police arrests one suspect

The Bauchi state police command has arrested one Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed in connection with the murder of Mr Isa Muhammad Wabi, a 66-year-old former Chairman of Jama’are LGA.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil made this known in a crime bulletin on Friday.
The crime bulletin indicated that the suspect is in custody for questioning and has cooperated, providing valuable information to the authorities.
According to CSP Wakil, the commissioner of police, Bauchi state command, Sani Omolori who visited the victim’s family, also directed discreet investigation into the crime.
“On the early morning of 2nd May 2025, at about 0403 hours, the police command received a distress call from a Good Samaritan concerning an incident involving an attack by a group of youths at Fadaman Mada, located behind government girls secondary school Bauchi”, the PPRO said in the crime bulletin.
It stated that, in response, a dedicated team of officers were dispatched to the scene where they found Mr Isa Muhammad Wabi, a 66-year-old former Chairman of Jama’are LGA, in critical condition due to injuries sustained in the attack.
CSP Wakil further noted that the injured ex-LG chairman was promptly evacuated to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi for urgent medical attention.
He said, preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances of his son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed, aged 24.

Police said that the investigation suggested that Ahmad Abdulkadir, also known as Abba, and Faruk Malami, referred to as Ajebo, had entered the home around 0300 hours and subsequently conspired to assault Mr. Wabi and in the process, he sustained multiple stab wounds on the neck.
The PPRO said one of the suspects, Ajebo, was found unconscious at the scene, likely due to retaliatory action from an enraged individual and was also taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
He disclosed that the command is conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances of this unfortunate incident and ensure that all responsible parties are brought to justice.
Wakil further said his principal, the CP has visited the deceased house to condole the family on the tragic event, and assured them that the law will deal with the perpetrators of the heinous act.
