Fire Outbreak Hits Ikorodu Abattoir:Shoe Maker Allegedly Burnt
There was a serious fire outbreak in the early hours of today at beach, Ikorodu area of Lagos which destroyed valuables and one person was confirmed dead.
Daily Times learnt that the fire was said to have emanated from a tanker loaded with petrol on climbing the hill at beach, Ikorodu area lost control and headed towards the abattoir along the way. The tanker was said to have fell on the floor producing a large ball of fire that razed the abattoir in Ikorodu leaving scores of damages to the abattoir.
Daily times spoke with an eyewitness who prefers anonymity, she told our correspondent that early this morning a tanker loaded with fuel ran into the butchers market and consumed valuables leaving about three people dead.
She said, “this morning a tanker loaded with fuel going towards General Hospital ikorodu, on climbing the hill at beach, the tanker break failed. For safety reason the tanker entered the butchers place, fell and fire erupted. People ran away, before the fire men came, two were already dead. I don’t really know oh, but they said that there was a shoe maker who lives around the butcher’s side, he was said to be burnt by the fire. Two girls that the flame caught up ran in to the gutter but the fire consumed them”
Investigations revealed that there are few residential buildings in the area. However, normal daily activities has returned.
