Buhari Will Move Power to the South East in 2019 —Okorocha

The governor of Imo State, Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has said that for an Igbo president to emerge, the people must vote the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) . Okorocha who likened Buhari to late Dr. Nelson Mandela of South Africa urged Nigerians to give him the mandate so that he can later hand over power to the south east in 2019.

Addressing with some Imo State indigenes under the umbrella of Imo State Towns Development Association Lagos (ISTDAL) at a reception for him at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, Okorocha said at 72, Buhari’s mission is to clear the rot in the polity and move on.

Speaking in Igbo language, Okorocha said that if the South-East Zone wanted to produce the president in the immediate future, the people must elect Buhari. Reason:

“Buhari is the Mandela of our time. At 72, what does he want? He will do one term, fix the country and move on and then power will be come back to the South. When power rotates to the South, the South-East will have it in 2019 because the South-West has had it through Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the South-South through Dr Goodluck Jonathan.’’

However, he said that the realty of South-East producing a president might not be realized if they did not get their politics right by voting for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which “marginalized” the South-East. According to him;

‘’under President Jonathan administration, the South-East is not among the five topmost positions in the country (President, Vice President, Senate President, Chief Justice of the Federation, Speaker of the House of Representatives), does not have any of the service chiefs, Inspector General of Police, Controller of Customs, Immigration, Civil Defence, etc. We only have controller of Prisons. This is not fair.’’
