FG reaffirms commitment to Universal Health Coverage, assures workers on better welfare

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to Universal Health coverage across the country for effective and efficient health care services for all Nigerians.

Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Iziaq Adekunle Salako, made this known in Abuja on Thursday, at the official visit and commissioning of projects at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, Nassarawa state.

He said: ” The administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will continue to move steadily and assuredly, in the direction of universal health coverage for all Nigerians using a multi-faceted approach focused on expanding service coverage, improving financial protection and strengthening health systems.

“A key element of this UCH agenda is the strengthening of health workforce through improved welfare package, conducive working environment and continous training.”

The Minister assured the Nigerian workers that the Federal Government is unrepentantly, commited to their welfare and will always do everything possible, to promote it within the limit of the economic capacity of the country.

Speaking on the solar borehole commissioned, Salako said: “The new infrastructural additions to this hospital must be well maintained and use to the benefit of those who visits here for healthcare.

“I therefore, challenge the management to immediately put in place a maintenance framework for these facilities in other to ensure optimal functionality and sustainability.

“Let me also encourage all healthcare workers to ensure proper utilization of these facilities, using them to provide quality care and protecting them like their personal properties.”

He commended the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr Abdullahi Sule and people of the State, the home of solid minerals for all the support extended to FMC, Keffi.

“I also appreciate the Emir of Keffi for the traditional support that continues to create the enablement environment for the hospital to thrive.

“My assurance to you is that, under President Tinubu, your welfare in every respect remains a priority and the Federal Government will continue to ensure that the atmosphere for optimal productivity by all health workers is created,” he added.
